  • Assault team
rdfs:comment
  • An assault team is a soldier or security officer group sent on offensive or defensive away missions. This type of team differs from an away team in the fact the team members usually carry heavier weaponry, specialized for battle. Earth Starfleet created the MACOs for assault team missions in the 22nd century. (ENT: "Shockwave") The Bajorans and Cardassians also used assault teams. (DS9: "The Siege", "What You Leave Behind")
  • The assault team in Brothers in Arms is used flank an enemy position once they have been 'fixed' by suppressing fire from the Fire Team or the player. The assault team can also be used to supress the enemy if needed. However, their shorter ranged weapons have less effect in this manner than does the base of fire team or MG team in Hell's Highway. If you assault team is close enough, you can order them to throw a grenade, this will be much safer than charging toward the enemy position. Despite dedicated for assault, the team is still vulnerable from enemy fire, remember not to let the assault team charge the enemy until the they are completely pinned by you and your teammates. Also, charging your assault team to the enemy while most of them are still breathing is not wise either.
  • During the 22nd century, United Earth used groups of MACO soldiers aboard Starfleet vessels for assault teams, most notably aboard the NX-class of ships. An assault team was used in April, 2152 to steal data disks containing ship's logs that proved Enterprise innocent of destroying the Paraagan II colony. (ENT: "Shockwave") In 2153, Corporal F. Hawkins was standing by with an assault team after Jonathan Archer discovered where the Xindi-Arboreals were processing kemocite, but Archer kept him on standby, stating that he wasn't ready to send in the troops yet. (ENT: "The Shipment")

(ENT: "The Shipment") In the mirror universe, the Terran Empire's Starfleet employed assault teams in a wider variety of situations, and usually superseded the away team instead of complementing them. In 2155, Commander Jonathan Archer led an assault team that boarded the USS Defiant. Archer again led an assault team to find the Gorn Slar and recover the starship components the alien had stolen. Archer also used an assault team to arrest all the aliens aboard the ISS Avenger. (ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly", "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II") In 2287, the USS Enterprise-A dispatched a strike team to Nimbus III to free the Federation, Klingon and Romulan ambassadors from Sybok's followers. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) In early 2370, a Bajoran assault team boarded Deep Space 9. (DS9: "The Siege") Members of the Cardassian Rebellion in 2375, during the Dominion War, were organized into an assault team for their attack on Dominion Headquarters. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind") In a version of Kyrian history portrayed in the Kyrian Museum of Heritage, Captain Kathryn Janeway of the warship Voyager ordered an assault team to recover Tedran. (DS9: "The Siege", "What You Leave Behind") After taking command of the USS Bajor, Kanril Eleya ordered an assault unit created under the security department, recruiting members of her crew with combat experience or an A-minus or better in combat evaluations. Senior Chief Petty Officer Athezra Darrod was the head of the squad, which was deployed in actions on Orvis II and in the mirror universe, among others. After Athezra's death on Kobali Prime, he was replaced by Lieutenant Alicia Gantumur. (Bait and Switch: "Downbelow", "Frostbite", The Wrong Reflection, "All In")
