In 1921 he signed as a free agent with the Regina Capitals of the Western Canada Hockey League and played with them through the 1924-25 season. In 1925 Traub moved with them to become the Portland Rosebuds and then in 1926 the team moved to become the Chicago Black Hawks. Traub played a full season with the expansion Hawks in 1926-27 and then was traded to the Detroit Cougars in 1927 where he played two seasons. He retired in 1929 to become a referee and in 1930 took over as coach of the senior Regina Victorias. In the NHL Traub played in 130 games and scored 3 goals and 3 assists.
