The only way to defeat them is to first jump on them, removing their stilts and then jumping on them, throwing an egg, or eating them. While on stilts, the Stilt Guys can't be eaten. If the Stilt Guy is attempted to be eaten or hit with an egg, it will just be knocked backwards. Another technique to defeat them is to keep knocking them backwards until the Stilt Guy falls into a hole. They also appear in Yoshi's Island DS and Paper Mario.

- A Stilt Guy is a Shy Guy that is on a pair of stilts. They were first found in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They can't be harmed by licking them, but it will push them away. An egg won't harm them if it hits the stilts as well, however it will cause the Shy Guy to slide down the stilts though. An attack to the Shy Guy itself will cause it to fall off the stilts, and it will be forced to walk on its own feet. When swallowed by Yoshi, the Shy Guy will discard its stilts.
