abstract
  • Suiretra Neras, born 2139 ABY, was the longest serving Nairut member of the Council Agents - the elite operatives answering directly to the Republic Council. For 24 years he was an agent of the Council's will, a zealous defender of galactic stability in the unsettled border region of the Naillyks Verge. Official records of Council Agents were sealed, but it is known that Suiretra followed Nairut tradition and entered the military at the age of 15. In 2155 ABY he was promoted to active service after only a year of training, though it is unclear whether his unit was involved in any of the battles against human forces during the War of First Contact of 2157 ABY. In 2159 ABY he became the youngest Nairut ever accepted into the Council Agents. Intelligent, cunning and capable, Suiretra quickly developed a reputation for ruthless efficiency. Although there were a number of unsettling rumours concerning the brutality of his methods, there was no denying his results. In the following years, Suiretra became an outspoken opponent of human expansion. Like many other non-humans, he believed the Human Alliance had become overly aggressive in its efforts to establish its species as a dominant species in Republic space. Historically, species took centuries to accomplish what humanity achieved in less than one, and there were several species that had a "lower" standing in the Republic than humanity, despite humans being more recent additions to the Republic community. His speciesism was speculated to have originated in the War of First Contact, when the Nairuts attacked Ixnahs. Atina Eloyg informed Divad Nosredna that Suiretra lost a brother in the war and disliked humanity ever since. After their abortive mission together, Suiretra retained a particular dislike of Captain Noresdna.
