Beside his work behind the cameras he performed stunts as a Jaguar Team member in the 1976 comedy The Gumball Rally (with Michael Sarrazin, Tricia O'Neil, and Eddy Donno), as Peters in the television drama The President's Mistress (1978, with Thalmus Rasulala, Gail Strickland, Michael Bell, Biff Yeager, and Jason Wingreen), and as a L.A.P.D. Officer in the 1985 thriller Into the Night (with John Hostetter, Viola Kates Stimpson, Bruce McGill, and Eddy Donno). Further credits in the makeup department include the television drama Stunts Unlimited (1980, along with hair stylist Silvia Abascal), the drama Urban Cowboy (1980, with Silvia Abascal and Susan Zietlow-Maust), the comedy Young Doctors in Love (1982, along with James Kail and Shirley Crawford), the action drama Red Dawn (1984), the television drama Baby M (1988, with Hazel Catmull), the action thriller Die Hard (1988), the thriller The Hunt for Red October (1990), and the action film Flight of the Intruder (1991, along Jeff Dawn). In 1989, Dawn was part of the makeup crew which earned two Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Makeup for a Miniseries or a Special for the drama War and Rememberance and shared these nominations with fellow Trek artists Thomas R. Burman, Bari Burman, and James Kail. The last movie Dawn worked on, the action thriller Point Break (1991, starring Lori Petty), was dedicated to him. Dawn passed away in Los Angeles, California in 1990.
