- Sticky George were a Liverpool-based group who appeared in Coronation Street in June 1973 as an unnamed Pop Group hired to perform in the Rovers select by relief manager Glyn Thomas. Phil Harrison was the lead singer and the group had connections with the Liverpool poetry-rock scene which included Roger McGough, The Scaffold and Adrian Henri. They also provided the music for a Granada Television play broadcast on 18th July 1973, written by Henri and entitled Yesterday's Girl.

Harrison and violinist Stuart Gordon split to form The Shortwaveband and later The Korgis who had a No.5 hit in the UK in 1980 with Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime. The latter band's third album was also entitled Sticky George.
