  • In 2 BBY, the Corellian Treaty was signed, forming the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Two of the signers were Jedi Master Jeden Vesal and his former apprentice, Koses Lik-Har, who had escaped the massacre of Order 66 due to the Clone troopers under their command disobeying the Order and helping the Jedi fight the Empire. Koses, an incredibly skilled pilot during the Clone Wars, was selected by Admiral Gial Ackbar to be the leader of the first squadron to use the new A-wing starfighters.

Koses was tasked with finding the pilots himself, with Ackbar believing that a captain should know his wingmen. Ten were employed as members, ranging from former bounty-hunters to high-ranking members of the Alliance. Koses decided to name the squadron after San-Ha-Vin, Jeden's Jedi Master, who passed away from old age shortly after Order 66, which he survived.
