- Tom and Jerry is an Academy Award-winning animated cartoon series of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer theatrical shorts created, written and directed by animators William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. One hundred and fourteen Tom and Jerry cartoons were produced by the MGM cartoon studio in Hollywood from 1940 until 1957, when the animation unit was closed down. These shorts are notable for having won seven Academy Awards for Best Short Subject (Cartoons), tying it with Disney's Silly Symphonies as the most-awarded theatrical animated series. It is widely rated as one of the best animated cartoon series ever.

The people at the plains said that they have to race in plains. Tom started fighting Jerry in the plains because they see the finish line. Jerry came in 1st place because of the big swoop down and Tom came in 2nd place. Tom was so mad when Jerry came in 1st place tom wanted to get in 1st place to win the prize. Jerry was happy that he came in 1st place for the prize. Jerry was laughing at Tom for getting 2nd place.
