  • Crystals are looted and reward items needed by Force Sensitive/Jedi for their Lightsabers. Crystals come in different colors and different qualities. A crystal needs to be tuned by a Jedi before being usable in a lightsaber. Once a crystal is tuned, it can be used in any Lightsaber, but can only be used by the Force Sensitive/Jedi that had tuned it.
  • Lightsaber crystals were small focusing crystals that made the blade how it was. There were different crystals that changed the colors of the blade, and there were different crystals that changed the intensity/quality of the blade, which improved its overall performance.
  • Lightsaber Crystals were crystals used in the construction of lightsabers. They gave out many different colours and varied effects. One crystal gave the ability to cut through lightsaber resistant material, such as cortosis.
  • At the heart of every lightsaber was a set of crystals that resonated to produce the efficient, powerful blade. While the most common crystals used in the process were from the Adega system, Ilum, and Dantooine (in the so-called "Crystal Cave"), Jedi and Sith used a variety of crystals to produce various colors, effects and unique abilities. Some crystals could even enhance the Force skills of a particular user. Other gems, such as colored crystals or diamonds, were used exclusively for prismatic effects. However not all lightsaber crystals were actually crystals at all. There were plenty of exceptions where a Jedi or Sith would use a different material or substance in place of a crystal, such as physical remains, shards of glass, and even special micro machinery.
  • Lightsaber crystal was a catch-all term for any object that could be used as the focus in lightsaber construction. While crystals were most commonly used, certain types of jewels, gems, stones and ingots could work. The type of crystal used in its construction could imbue lightsabers with special properties and abilities. The type of crystal from which a lightsaber draws focus influences the color of the blade. Naturally-found crystals are used in Jedi lightsabers, while the Sith use synthetically created crystals.

The type of crystal used in its construction could imbue lightsabers with special properties and abilities. The type of crystal from which a lightsaber draws focus influences the color of the blade. Naturally-found crystals are used in Jedi lightsabers, while the Sith use synthetically created crystals. Lightsaber crystals were traditionally found and/or mined by the Jedi Order, which results in the canon earthy blue, green, and yellow lightsaber colors. During the centuries the Sith spent quietly building an army to challenge the Republic, lightsabers needed to be constructed without attracting the attention of the Jedi Order, which heavily controlled the acquisition of lightsaber crystals. As a result, the Sith were forced to develop their own, artificial lightsaber crystals through careful application of the Force. These crystals, all synthesized in the same method, all produced the same characteristic red blade. The Sith would come to view this as additional mastery over the Force, and would from then on opt to use the characteristically red-bladed lightsabers that contained artificial crystals.

There were plenty of exceptions where a Jedi or Sith would use a different material or substance in place of a crystal, such as physical remains, shards of glass, and even special micro machinery. During the Great Sith War epoch, many lightsabers were created using Kunda stones, a natural geologic formation from the planet Kadril, in place of crystals. These stones boasted numerous practical applications in medicine and communications; however, when added to other focusing crystals, they produced a broader beam.
