In the anime, Takeshi falls in love with Mio Hio (who doesn't reciprocate his feelings), a transfer student, who is actually a doll in human form. Hyperactive and bossy, Saehara often takes control for class events - as seen in episode 19 "Beautiful Heroine". Also in the anime, Takeshi is continually misunderstanding things (why Mio was talking to Daisuke on the vacation, why Daisuke took his ice cream, etc.). He appears to dislike being challenged by other students and enjoys taking charge.
