  • Dead ringer is a monster who appears in VIII.
  • The Dead Ringer was the transport of smuggler captain Bioto. Cash Garrulan smuggled two refugees fleeing Murkhana aboard the Dead Ringer, simultaneously using the "stow-aways" as stand-ins for Olee Starstone and Roan Shryne and also setting up his rival Bioto for the fall. The Ringer was impounded by the Exactor when Darth Vader was attempting to intercept Starstone and Shryne as they fled Murkhana. Vader had Bioto, his crew, and the stowaways put in the brig.
  • Dead Ringer is the twentieth episode in season four of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
  • The Dead Ringer is an unlockable PDA weapon for the Spy. It is a gold-plated pocket watch with an engraving of a hummingbird on its lid, and a circular Cloak display within. This weapon can't cloak on demand, but when the user right clicks, the watch is held out, and the user cannot attack while it is out. When the user is hit, the user automatically cloaks for a max of 6.5 seconds, has a 90% damage reduction, a 3 second speed boost and never flickers if damaged or bumped for 3 seconds(it will flicker when bumped after the speed boost ends). Also, on hit the user drops a corpse of the spy. If the player is disguised as a friendly user, the corpse is a ragdoll of the team-member. The cloak type is: "Feign Death".
  • In 1981, after losing his voice, Meat Loaf released Dead Ringer, an album of songs by Jim Steinman. Although he wrote all the material, Steinman did not have much direct involvement in the making of this album, having released his own album, Bad for Good, the same year.
  • Phase 1: Dead Ringer will immediately try to ring all four bells by moving into the square above them and striking them on his next move. At any point, he can get distracted by spotting the player in a cardinal direction, and will charge forward (you can distract him before he rings any bells if you are quick). When charging, he moves once per beat, otherwise he moves once every two beats. He is capable of moving diagonally.
  • A trap for Quentin and Ramirez apparently fails. However, when Ramirez reunites with Quentin and his sister at the site of the Jettator oath ceremony, he acts out of character and tells Quentin that it is time for him to face Kortan, and then hands him the MacLeod sword. When Clyde insists that Quentin is not yet ready, Ramirez slaps her and declares that his decision should not be questioned, and then leaves to plan the fight with Kortan. Meanwhile, the real Ramirez escapes the underground tunnels and abducts Asklepios to interrogate him for the location of Quentin. When the doppleganger returns, the real Ramirez confronts him. Quentin discovers that the MacLeod sword is a fake and that the other Ramirez was a man in a mask. Kortan waits at the other side of a suspension bridge, and Quent
  • While driving on a country road, Steve Austin swerves to avoid a collision with another vehicle and veers off the road. Hitting a tree and slamming his head against the steering wheel, he is dazed. But before passing out he sees a glowing figure in the distance. The figure looks like it could be his double. Later, while recovering under Rudy's care, Oscar Goldman visits and suggests that the accident may have been staged; he tells Steve that two enemy agents have slipped into the country and they're experimenting in bionics. Steve is distracted when he spots his glowing body-double again but it vanishes before Rudy or Oscar spot it. They think he's hallucinating but suspect it may be more.

If Dead Ringer charges at the player and crashes into a bell, the bell will be destroyed. If a bell is rung (either by the player or by Dead Ringer), a miniboss will spawn. Bells can also be destroyed with bombs. Destroyed bells do not spawn minibosses. After a miniboss has been killed, it is possible to summon another by attacking the bell that spawned it. Phase 2: Once all four bells have been either rung or destroyed, Dead Ringer will begin to glow yellow and move much faster. All of the bells will disappear (but NOT the enemies or minibosses) and a gong will spawn on the top-center of the field. Dead Ringer moves once each beat, and can move diagonally. If he spots the player in a cardinal direction, he will charge across the screen on his next turn. Dead Ringer's charge now takes him as far as he can possibly move, until he collides with the player (dealing a massive four hearts of damage, the highest amount in the game) or a minion/miniboss (which will immediately be destroyed). The only way to win is to trick Dead Ringer into charging into the large gong, which will end the fight immediately. * The top-left bell spawns a Green Dragon. * The top-right bell spawns an Ogre. * The bottom-left bell spawns a Nightmare. * The bottom-right bell spawns a Minotaur. Bells are treated as though they were crates - they do not count as enemies, and will only be deliberately attacked if the player is standing next to them. However, the bells can be rung unintentionally by striking them with a weapon that has a large area of effect - for example, the blunderbuss. If attacked with a Dagger of Phasing, he will only lose one of his two hearts and immediately progress to his second phase if he has not already done so. Attacking him again will kill him. Although unconfirmed, he seems to be damageable the beat he charges if he collides with a monster and gets hit on the same beat. It might be possible to defeat him this way- however, the sheer difficulty of setting up such a strike makes this strategy highly infeasible. Interestingly, though, it is possible to redirect his charge attack with a flail strike, provided Dead Ringer is adjacent to Cadence. This works in both phases. After his defeat, Dead Ringer will survive the fight, breaking his bell-shaped helmet open, revealing that he is Dorian, Cadence's father, in a sickly and "cursed" state. According to him, he was being controlled by the Necrodancer to fight her against his will. He will then accompany Cadence during her final battle against the Necrodancer. Defeating Dead Ringer unlocks Dorian as a playable character.

Rudy sends him to see Dr. Margaret Winslow, a respected parapsychologist. When she learns that Steve was clinically dead for 52 seconds after his plane crash, she proposes that his spirit might have left his body while he was dead and now may be returning to kill him. She explains that a spirit cannot rest if the body regains life. When an explosion rocks Winslow's office, nearly killing her and Steve, she suspects that his spirit may be to blame. In an effort to make contact with it, she convinces Steve to take part in a seance. During the ritual Steve is hypnotized and relives his near fatal plane crash. But Winslow is overcome by unseen forces and tries to kill him. Steve breaks the hypnosis and stops her just in time, shaking her out of her deranged state. Winslow says something took control of her. Later, Oscar questions Winslow's credibility. Steve balks at this. He trusts her and he's agreed to let her attempt to contact his spirit again, this time at the location of his car crash. As the winds pick up and lightening flashes, Winslow calls to the spirit. Steve turns away from the blustering wind and when he turns back Winslow is nowhere to be seen. Then, his look-a-like glowing figure suddenly appears and then vanishes again. Steve begins to search for Winslow to no avail. Instead, he finds a small light projector buried in the earth. Steve determines that the glowing ringer is a fabrication and more practical forces are at work. As if to confirm this, his Bionic eye spots Winslow in a moving car, flanked by two men. He swings into bionic pursuit but loses them when lightning strikes a tree directly in his path. As Steve deals with the fallen tree, the two men pull up to a cabin in the woods and set a trap for him using Winslow as bait. They tie her to a chair by the window and rig a canister of lethal gas to release when the cabin door is opened. They don gas masks and wait for Steve to arrive. But the gas is no match for Steve as he crashes through the door and dispatches the canister with ease. The two men try to subdue him but he takes care of them in short order and rescues Winslow. Later, as Steve demonstrates how the projectors created the image of his glowing twin, Oscar explains that the two men are the same enemy agents he spoke of before. And the glowing figure was all part of their plan to destabilize him. Dr. Winslow says she needs a vacation after all this. Steve gives her a parting kiss.
