- A Steel Armor is an Armor-class bodywear available in both Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. It is sold in armor vendors at Lalivero in Golden Sun and at Contigo in The Lost Age. Being an Armor-class piece of body protection, a Steel Armor can be equipped on warrior-style Adepts, namely Isaac and Garet in the first game, along with Felix and Piers in the second. It increases the equipped Adept's base Defense rating by 36 points. Its buy value is 4900 coins and its sell value is 3675 coins. In Golden Sun when Steel Armors can first be bought in Lalivero, players who have freely won Spirit Armors at Tolbi with their Lucky Medals would find Steel Armors to be hardly worth buying because while they have somewhat more defense ratings, Spirit Armors have reliable resistance boosts, so the armors are about equal in damage-lowering quality. Since this is close to the game's final stages, you can find some of the game's strongest bodywear later on, including the Asura's Armor in Tunnel Ruins and the Dragon Scales in Venus Lighthouse, and also found elsewhere in the optional dungeon Crossbone Isle is the Storm Gear, all of which outperform Steel and Spirit Armor alike. In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the Steel Armor's usefulness is practically nullified because it is sold so late in the game in Contigo, long after Felix's party has amassed much stronger equipment such as Erebus Armor and Wild Coats from the Lucky Medal minigame in Lemuria. However, if this game is being played without any data transfer or with a Password that's either Bronze or Silver-level, when Isaac's party joins Felix Isaac and Garet will both be equipped with Steel Armor, which are of course far inferior to the equipment Felix's party will surely have amassed by that point, so their Steel Armor should be replaced as soon as possible.

Carson asks if the fluid has been tested and is answered with, "I've turned ordinary dirt into living matter!" Carson asks Professor Cowles if the living matter will have brains and if it will be good or evil. Professor Cowles replies, "No one can say," and orders Carson to burn the live cells. Cowles plans to keep the fluid in a safe. Lightning knocks out the electricity in the castle. Carson goes to the generator to fix it, when Cowles accidentally spills the Life Generator Fluid on an empty suit of armor. Several minutes later, Steel Armor comes to life and attempts to kill Professor Cowles and Carson. Carson bravely takes up a sword and strikes Steel Armor, but the sword is smashed against the impenetrable metal. Carson avoids Steel Armor, the animated being nearly crashing through a stone wall with its prodigious strength. Cowles notes, "It doesn't seem to have intelligence, just the urge to kill!" The slow-moving Steel Armor continues its rampage. Cowles and Carson go to retrieve the "new decomposing acid". As they are searching for the acid, Steel Armor smashes the heavy wooden door and attacks Professor Cowles. Carson finds the acid, but the professor tells Carson to not throw the bottle as it will burn Cowles alive. Carson splashes the acid on Steel Armor, which starts to burn the creature's shell. The creature moves away from the professor, allowing Carson to throw the entire bottle at it. The armor gets red-hot and starts to melt. When the armor is melted away, a human skeleton is revealed, displaying that a human inhabited the armor. Professor Cowles says, "Carson! What have we done? What have we done?"
