  • Imperial Intelligence often used torture and various methods of brainwashing to create sleeper agents: agents who were unconsciously conditioned to perform some task. Their "patients" would be allowed to reunite with the Rebellion after conditioning; they themselves would have no memory of what had happened to them or what they were conditioned to do. Then, at an opportune time, Imperial Intelligence would activate the agent's conditioning, causing him or her to commit murder, sabotage, theft, or other acts without the ability to control themselves.
  • A Sleeper Agent was a kidnapped individual that was brainwashed by the Kolat to perform specific duties when activated. Sleepers were usually kidnapped during lenghty trips, were their family would not notice his absence. They were manipulated through magic, torture and another ways, and when completed had a deep-set unsconscious instructions, to be activated at Kolat Master's discretion, normally with a specific word. They returned to normal life with false memories, without any sign of this process. The sleepers were only activated for very important missions.
  • A sleeper agent is a spy who is placed in a target country or organization, not to undertake an immediate mission, but rather to act as a potential asset if activated. Sleeper agents are popular plot devices in fiction, in particular espionage fiction and science fiction.
