| abstract | - Saki lived with her father and younger brother, Haruya Sakurai. When she was a student her class was forced to take part in Battle Royale. She won it thanks to her natural talent at sniping. After winning, she shot her teacher and ran away and later met Shuya Nanahara while wandering alone. The novelization of the movie presents a slightly different story for Saki, as well as featuring her as a main character, fully illustrating her victory at Battle Royale. After killing her teacher, she ran away and stayed with another teacher who participated in anti-government activities. Through his connections, she also joined the Dawn of Sajia, an activist group, where she met Kazama Souji. However, the teacher was later revealed to be a traitor to the group, and was to be killed; Saki made an attempt to rescue him, and was thus cast out of the organization. As a result, she left the organization, along with Kazama, and joined the Dawn of Asia, the activist group led by Shinji Mimura's uncle, then finally joined Shuya's Wild Seven.
