Esau was also at Riverside in early 1975, driving for McDuffie Racing in the season opener. Starting 18th in the field of thirty-three, Esau fell a number of laps down but still managed to record a solid 15th place finish. But Esau's best run came in 1976, when he competed yet again at Riverside. Starting 19th in the field of thirty-five, Esau completed 169 of the 191 laps and wound up with a career-best 13th place finish in his career finale.
