| abstract | - Larry Esau (August 5, 1947 - ) is a former NASCAR driver from San Diego, CA. He competed in four Nextel Cup Series events in his career. Esau's debut came in 1972, when Esau competed at Riverside. Starting 15th in the field of forty, Esau fell quite a number of laps down but was still on the track at the conclusion of the event to record a 24th place run. Esau's next race came in 1974 when he returned to Riverside. Starting 32nd this go round, Esau only lasted forty-seven laps in the race before clutch issues left him with a disappointing 29th place run. Esau was also at Riverside in early 1975, driving for McDuffie Racing in the season opener. Starting 18th in the field of thirty-three, Esau fell a number of laps down but still managed to record a solid 15th place finish. But Esau's best run came in 1976, when he competed yet again at Riverside. Starting 19th in the field of thirty-five, Esau completed 169 of the 191 laps and wound up with a career-best 13th place finish in his career finale.
