Draco was made Prefect in his fifth year and became part of the Inquisitorial Squad of then-acting headmistress Delores Umbridge. Although initially a blood supremacist, Draco progressively became disillusioned with the Death Eater philosophy after the death of Cassius Warrington. In the summer of 1996, Draco was given the opportunity to become a Death Eater, but during his initiation; the torture and rape of two Muggle girls, he refused to do the deed and ran away, though not before being punished for his refusal; gaining a scar on the right side of his face. On the run from Death Eaters and having nobody to trust, Draco took to hiding in Muggle London and, by chance, encountered Harry Potter. Harry successfully convinced Draco to seek aid from Dumbledore and he was placed in the care of his maternal aunt Andromeda Tonks and her husband, Ted. During Christmas of 1996, the Tonks household was attacked by Death Eaters during Christmas Dinner; attended by several Order members, and Ted sacrificed himself in the ensuing battle to ensure Draco's safety. Guilt-ridden over Ted's death, Draco attempted to run away, but was stopped by his godfather Severus Prince and brought to Hogwarts to be looked after. There, Draco joined Dumbledore's Army after being convinced by Daphne Greengrass and gained the trust of several other Hogwarts students. When Hogwarts was taken over by the Death Eaters in 1997, Draco was taken out of school and placed with the Weasley family. Although initially distrusted by the Weasleys, Draco was eventually accepted into the household and became a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He aided the Order in anyway he could and fought several skirmishes against Death Eaters, even providing intelligence on possible Horcrux locations to Harry. He fought in the Battle of Hogwarts at the end of the war where he struck down his own father. Even after the battle ended Draco continued to help by healing the wounded and showing up every day to rebuild the school. After the war, Draco married Ginny Weasley, with whom he struck up a relationship with during his time in hiding with the Weasleys, and had two children; Lucilla Concordia and Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy.
