  • The 1982–83 Pittsburgh Penguins season was their sixteenth in the National Hockey League. This was the Penguins worst season to date, winning a meagre 18 games and accumulating only 45 points: they finished in last place in the NHL. General Manager Baz Bastien was killed as a result of an automobile collision on March 15, 1983.
