  • Born in TA 2901, Samotin was one of the Dúnedain that lived in Arnor. At a young age, he had never took any formal education in fighting to become a Ranger of the North. His father was a good friend with Halbarad Dúnadan's father, Halbaron. Some after he finished training, he would often hand out with Halbarad since they knew each other during their childhood. While he continued his training with his father, Samotin never wanted to kill anybody, especially Orcs that were roaming the region of Eriador and causing trouble. Unfortunately, his parents were beheaded by a battalion of Orcs during the Battle of the Rurals. The death of his parents changed Samotin. He was very furious when he watched them die and immediately picked up a hoe and dashed towards the Orc general. He was knocked down and at the moment when the Orc tried to stabbed him, a ranger shot the Orc's throat and fell, saving Samotin's life. Samotin believed that he was not worthy to become a Ranger and immediately left. Years later, Samotin was among the Rangers who guarded the Shire, homeland of the Shire-hobbits.had been called by his old friend to assist him at Lam Nheong. Despite his weakness, Samotin was forced to comply and his job was to guard the town hall along with Magurai during the Battle of Lam Nheong. He managed to survive the battle, but he never slew any Orcs due to his weakness, however, he went on to join Grey Company which was formed after the battle was over. When the War of the Ring began in TA 3002 when Mordor launched an attack on Osgiliath, Samotin was still in the Shire when he and Halabarad received a response message from Rivendell. Rejoining Grey Company with 6000 Rangers, Samotin followed Halbarad to Rivendell south to the aid of their kinsman Aragorn, son of Arathorn II. He was quite surprised to learn that Aragorn was the heir of Isildur and was among the rangers that held high hopes for him. After been joined by 4000 Elves of Rivendell and 2000 Hobbits of Hobbitry-in-arms, Samotin was present in Dunharrow and witnessed Aragorn enter the Paths of the Dead to summon the Oathbreakers and call for their aid. Upon arriving to Gondor that was already under attack by the armies of the Mordor, he stayed at the pier during the Battle of Pelennor Fields, and killed a number of Orcs who were fleeing from the river when Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli arrived with the Army of the Dead. He was appointed to stay at Minas Tirith, and would later attend the coronation of Aragorn.
