Mekeal is described as being a slightly smaller copy of his father, who grew into a broadly-built man. Generally good-natured, he and Vanyel were never enemies as children, though they weren't really friends either. This allowed for a fairly easy reconciliation as adults. When Vanyel was Chosen, Mekeal became Withen's heir as Lord Holder of the Steading, a position he was happy to attain. As he grew into adulthood, Mekeal became involved with his mother's maid, Melenna, and fathered her son, Medren, much to Lady Treesa's outrage. Eventually he married Roshya. They had several more children, including Herald Ariel Ashkevron.
