Zeiss, meanwhile, receives his mended lenses froma courier called Pete, whom he kills, believing him to be a man who trades in information. Father Nick warns him that not only is the alien dying, but he doesn't seem to think in the same way that humans do. When Batman's hand meets that of the alien, their minds also link. He witnesses the destruction of the alien's homeworld at the hands of Imperiex and learns how to cure the two comatose men who attacked it earlier. As this is communicated, the alien drops dead. The next day, when Batman visits the hospital as Bruce Wayne to check up on the men, he bumps into Lex and Mallory Moxon along with Angelo Beretti. As they all leave the hospital, they are suddenly confronted by Zeiss who begs to be allowed back into the family.
