  • Black robes are one of the basic types of armor in ADOM. They have default stats of [+0, +1], although variations from this are common. They have no special attributes.
  • The Black Robe can be equipped by White Mages and Devouts are the only magical-based classes that cannot wield this armor. In the NES version, it provides 20 Defense, 14 Magic Defense, Intellect +5, Magic Evade +3%, and 12% Evade. It can be bought in the Saronia for 7,000 gil. In the 3D versions, it provides 31 Defense and 45 Magic Defense, +5 Intellect. It can be bought in the Ancient Ruins and on the Invincible for 27,000 gil.
  • A Black Robe is a simple item of clothing usually worn by vampires. One can also see it being worn by Prior Maborel and Ri'Bassa. The robes have no weight or value, their value will not increase even if they are enchanted.
  • Affects: armor by 20 is bad!
  • Black Robe was the highest level of mage in Carthak. There were only seven in the world in the 400s HE. During the 200s HE, there were twelve. The studies regarding black robe mages were more theoretical than practical. A well known black robe mage was Numair Salmalín. Robes in other colors signified a lower level of magecraft, e.g. scarlet robes stood for mastery while yellow robes were worn by adepts.
  • A Black robe is magic armour that is worn on the torso. It is obtained by killing dark wizards. The black robe gives a lower magic bonus than the wizards robe (giving +5 magic rather than +6 for wizards robe), so using this is not recommended.
  • Players will often wear the black robes with the black wizard hat and black skirt for aesthetics, but the black wizard hat is weaker than a gnome or Canifis hat, and the black skirt provides no bonuses at all. For aesthetics, a priest robe skirt, which provides a prayer bonus, can be used instead of the black skirt.
  • The Black Robe, also known as the Black Cloak depending on the translation, is an item in Clock Tower: The First Fear. It is found in the wardrobe in the East Wing parlor of the Barrows Mansion. It can be used along with the perfume to get past the dog guarding the "Cradle Under the Star". It is also possible that the robe may be found in the armor room.
  • Jesuit missionary Father LaForgue is anxious to evangelize the indigenous peoples of 17th century interior Canada. He sets out from Quebec with the guidance of Chomina, an experienced Algonquin traveler, Chomina's family, several other natives and the non-Jesuit carpenter, Daniel. LaForgue struggles with his deeply-held religious convictions as he encounters a vast, alien landscape; meets various hostile natives and confronts cultural attitudes he fails to understand. Black Robe is a 1985 novel by Brian Moore. Moore also wrote the screenplay for the 1991 film of the same name.

Desirability
  • One point of PV is the lowest tier of useful body armor. You probably shouldn't wear one of these if they aren't identified to be uncursed and untrapped, since getting stuck with just one point of PV on your body armor is a rather rough deal.
