  • Proximity alert
rdfs:comment
  • A Proximity Alert was the event that a Hovercraft was discovered by Sentinel. A loud shrill alarm would sound to alert the crew, in particular the ship's Captain, Operator, or On duty Redpill. In the event that the alarm was raised while crewmen where jacked into the Matrix the Hovercraft's Operator and all Human born crewmen would then be forced to do one of three things: call all jacked in crew members back to the Real World, activate the ship's Electromagnetic pulse destroying all machines in the area and killing all jacked in crew, or be forced to wait and hope that the ship is not detected. Many ship Captains would find fleeing or powering down a more effective way of survival than risk using shipboard weaponry.
  • In 2256, in a binary system on the edge of Federation space, while on a space walk; Commander Michael Burnham's thruster suit's computer voice informed her of a proximity alert, alerting her to the danger of a Klingon torchbearer. (DIS: "The Vulcan Hello") In 2259 of the alternate reality, Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu reported to Captain James T. Kirk that the USS Enterprise's proximity alert had sounded when the USS Vengeance was detected heading right towards the Enterprise's location in Klingon space at warp speed. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

(Star Trek Into Darkness) In 2263 of the same alternate reality, Ensign Pavel Chekov reported a proximity alert triggered by an unidentifiable "ship", which soon turned out to be an amalgamation of innumerable tiny spacecraft, approaching the Enterprise. (Star Trek Beyond) In 2373, Lieutenant Tom Paris was alerted of an approaching Kazon ship vessel by the computer in his shuttlecraft. (VOY: "Basics, Part II") In 2374, Seven of Nine's sensory nodes were being affected by the Mutara-class nebula. She hallucinated that the computer verbally stated that Trajis Lo-Tarik's vessel was approaching the USS Voyager. (VOY: "One")
