While Caleb suffers from the metamorphosis the original guard steals the Blue Destiny bringing with him together with the guard's lance. but Caleb came newly transformed into a guard and defeated his predecessor. He merged the lance with the Blue Destiny and the two artifacts were combined. It seems that the primary power of the sword is absorption as its displayed the ability to contain magical forces.
