The Doctor claimed to be trying to get one over on his enemy, Death. The Tramp joined the Doctor in several adventures. During one, he helped the Doctor stop Mortimus from taking Antonio Salieri back in time to kill the infant Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

(PROSE: The Tramp's Story) The Tramp was later removed from history by the Doctor to protect the Web of Time and was placed in a zeppelin that was endlessly looping through the heart of the Time Vortex.
