Steurer's debut came in 1985, when he competed at Riverside. It was a strong start for Steurer, completing all but two laps to finish in 11th place. He proved it was no fluke in the later Riverside event, matching his 11th place effort by completing all but one lap. Steurer also solely raced in both Riverside events in 1986. He was again solid at the track, driving his way to a career-best 10th place effort in the June event and following that up with a respectable 16th place run in the season finale, three laps off the pace. Steurer's final career race came in 1987, when the driver again competed at Riverside. Starting 28th in the field of forty-two, Steurer lost his luck at the track as an early suspension issue sidelined him to 41st.
