rdfs:comment
  • In 40 ABY, the galaxy was in turmoil. When Commenor and Bothawui aided the Five Worlds in breaking the Blockade of Corellia, the galaxy fell into open civil war. Five Worlds General Tarvin Calaan however, who had joined the Five Worlds to help them gain their independence, was opposed to full scale war. Over the course of the past weeks, Calaan had become disillussioned with the Five Worlds when he realized that they were not seeking a quick solution to the war. After Five Worlds Prime Minister Dur Gejjin attempted to have Tenel Ka Djo of Hapes and ex-Admiral Wedge Antilles, who was a good friend of Calaan, assasinated, Calaan decided to abandon the Five Worlds. During the breaking of the Blockade, he refused to fire on a damaged Galactic Alliance frigate, and was relieved of his command.

As a safety precaution, Calaan had sabatoged the weapons on the fighters under his command so that he could escape. He returned to his estate on Corellia's surface to retrieve his wife and their starship, only to find the estate swarming with CorSec officers and his wife in custody. Refusing to leave without her, he landed his fighter and was promptly arrested. Without so much as a trial, he was sentenced to death for treason while his wife was placed under house arrest indefinately. Fortunately for the Calaans, the newly formed Confederation proudly boadcast news of the "traitors" capture across the galaxy and it didn't take long for the Calaan's daughter and Jedi Knight Brin Onar to hear the news and begin formulating a plan to save her parents. She and her husband Jance contacted her brother Dirrax who hadn't spoken to his parents since his brother Nerric's death four years earlier. Dirrax, a GAG fighter pilot, also hated his father for joining the Corellians but after learning that Tarvin had been sentenced to death for betraying them, he decided to help. Dirrax contacted his father's old friends from Republic Squadron. The three pilots, Jarton Kinsk, Vyalla Serru and Nien Nuvv, quickly volunteered to help rescue Tarvin and Larena and with funding from Jarton's father the trio were able to purchase surplus E-wing starfighters. Now that they had enough firepower and a group made up of some of the best pilots in the galaxy, Brin felt they were ready to attempt the rescue.
