However, this source seems to suggest that Rook was several years old by this point, while Rook's known birth date was in 2024. Rook always believed that her mother disproved of the way she acted as a teenager, and Rook left without telling her. Rook visited her home town once more, wanting to clear the score with The Red Snakes. Rand, her partial friend, followed her to the town. In or around the town, Rand met Rook's parents, with her apparently filling Rand in on Rook's past. Rand helped Rook fight the gang, and eventually was able to leave the town victorious after defeating the Invid. As the two left the town, Rook was shocked to see her mother at the end of the entrance, as Rand had predicted. The two said nothing, and Rook rode on moments later. Rand caught up to Rook, and told her that her mother wished well of her, and wanted to say nothing more to her. Rook silently said goodbye to her mother, as she returned to her new family. Before leaving, Rand told the woman to get a job. (New Generation: Hard Times)
