- In recent years, Weatherly has gained international recognition and success for his current role as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo on the television series, NCIS (series), a spin-off of the American military series, JAG (series). Due to the sheer success of the song, Weatherly later wrote and recorded more songs including "Pretty Baby", "All Fall Apart", "Lovlihead", and "Suffer for Me". Weatherly also shares his birthday with fellow NCIS co-star Rocky Carroll who plays NCIS Director Leon Vance. In addition to appearing in JAG and NCIS: New Orleans, Weatherly also appeared in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, guest-starring in the Season 7 episode, "Blame it on Rio". On January 5, 2016, Weatherly announced that he was leaving NCIS after thirteen seasons. He is the first long-running cast member associated with NCIS to be leaving the show, Weatherly having been involved with the show since it first aired as two backdoor pilot episodes which were part of JAG Season 8. Weatherly departed NCIS in May 2016, his final appearance as a regular cast member occurring in the NCIS Season 13 finale episode, "Family First".
