Tore was named best DEL player for 2005-06 after leading the league with 64 points in 52 games. He is a regular member of the Norwegian National Team. In 2010, he has been selected to take part in the 2010 Olympic Games held in Vancouver, Canada. Vikingstad registered a hat trick against Switzerland on February 20th at those Olympics, before his two children who attended the game.
