The planet nearly obtained the status of an ecumenopolis by the time the human colony left in 12 BBY, but because the land was mostly at sea level and rivers of great capacity laced the planet, only held back by shield generators acting as levees, the hurricanes and abrupt weather changes that broke off the arctic poles made the planet nearly impossible to inhabit. The weather became very freakish by the time of the Battle of Yavin, and hurricanes of immense size and power were stirred commonly, water currents changed, hailstorms with precipitation the size of fists, and lightning with multiplied strength showed up commonly. Winds many times exceeded 400 kilometers per hour. With abandoned cities and factories covering the planet, destruction raged on for decades, and disasters were commonly filmed for the Holonet as a dramatic show. The planet was the final stage of the duel between Anakin Skywalker and Darth Infineus at the end of the Second Clone War.
