  • Chantry was a 15 storey tower block, built in 1967, on the Jordanthorpe Estate in Sheffield, England. It was a one of a group 3 towers built on the estate, the other two being Ramsey and Rhodes. They were the same design as the tower blocks at Stannington. Currently occupied by Pensioners. It was demolished on Sunday the 29th of April 2012 by local contractor Demex using a controlled blowdown following pre weakening works and soft strip out over several months. The building was only about 10 m from the 4 storey new sheltered accommodation block built next door. The site was also boarded by a estate road and a care facility making it a very tight site for the drop. Like a lot of towers it had cell phone transmitters on the roof, which were relocated to nearby masts. The other 2 were were demolished in October 2001. This was done as part of the then Sheffield Council "Stock Reduction Programme", influenced by fact they are 1 bedroomed, for which demand is low. They also suffer from Lack of insulation, and damp due to the no fines 'wimpey' construction method. The housing estate was built on land which has only been in South Yorkshire and Sheffield since boundary changes in the 1950s. The Derbyshire border is a few hundred yards south of here. visible across the fields are the village of Coal Aston and Dronfield a small Town over the border in Derbyshire. Also visible from them are the Moors of the peak district and the M1 near J30 (about 6 miles away).

  • The Chantry is the dominant religious organization in Thedas. It is based on the Chant of Light, a series of teachings written by Andraste, the prophet of the Maker, and was founded by Kordillus Drakon, the first emperor of Orlais. The Chantry's followers are known as Andrastians. "Chantric" is also an acceptable adjective to refer to something or someone that is of the Chantry religion. The Chantry's goal is to spread the Chant of Light to all four corners of the world and to all races. The view of the Chantry on non-humans is that they need saving—they have turned even further from the Maker's grace than humanity has. There are no known Andrastian Qunari. The elves worshipped, and in some cases still worship, the Elven pantheon, and dwarves venerate the Stone. Once all peoples have accepted the Chant and practice its teachings, the Maker will return and restore the world to its former glory. As such, Andrastian religion in Thedas can be described as deistic in that the Maker abandoned the world, and he will not heed prayer or perform any other function until his favor is regained. The Chantry calendar is used everywhere in Thedas, save for the Imperium, and is the source of the names of the Ages.
