Tolan Garak, the groundskeeper of Cardassia City's Tarlak Sector in the mid 24th century, had a particular passion for Edosian orchids, and populated much of the sector with them. He passed on his skills for growing the orchids to his son Elim Garak, who went on to plant them in the various residences he kept on Cardassia. Elim also grew them in an Obsidian Order operation on Romulus where, when pollinated by native plant White Star of Night, created a deadly bloom that he used to kill Proconsul Merrok.
