| abstract | - President Alexander Marduk, founder and proprietor of the Marduk Foundation, is the effective leader of Metropolis and its various choraic possessions. Through the research conducted in the city, he learns how the world was altered at the end of the Tribulation and by what means that power could be restored to human control, reversing the effects of its previous use and liberating humanity from its current precarious state of existence. This prompts him to mobilize the Foundation for a planet-wide search for "gifted" individuals.
