Junker also represented Canada at the 1992 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. In 2010, Junker was named the coach and general manager of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League's Castlegar Rebels.

After being drafted Junker only saw very limited action with the Islanders, spending most of his time in the minor pros. In 1996-97 he joined the Canadian national men's hockey team for the season. Junker then left for Germany where he has been playing since 1997. In 2010, Junker was named the coach and general manager of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League's Castlegar Rebels.
