As they grow older, these quills grow. The Retizians prize corlandium, which is produced on their homeworld by tiny organisms, although only in small amounts. In 2372, Esteban Lopez planned to turn over his former USS Saratoga crewmembers to the Retizians for the corlandium producing organisms they had been infected with for several years.
