| abstract | - Vrool Katare was an Utai Sith that founded the True Jedi Alliance along with Ouiga Vod. He and Ouiga fell to the dark side while they were with the New Jedi Order, and created the Alliance from it in 12 ABY, claiming to be "nobler" Jedi. They continued to use this facade to recruit many unknowing members for years, and slowly attempted to corrupt them over to the dark side. It wasn't until 19 ABY that the Order took notice of their actions and attacked them over Onderon. Vrool used the attack as cover to kill Kugahtaro Leihai, a TJA member he felt would never fall to the Sith path. Vrool stayed as leader of the Alliance after the battle, helping it grow and eventually leading it in an attack on the Jedi Praxeum on Ossus. The First Battle of Ossus was a huge failure, leaving Vrool and fellow Sith Jero Kolfin as the Alliance's only living members. Despite this setback, Vrool continued his efforts against the Jedi Order and rebuilt the TJA. He soon recruited Toven Gane, son of former member Evon Gane, into the growing rebellion and was quickly impressed by the Twi'lek's logical thinking, promoting him to second-in-command and ousting Kolfin. With Toven's help the Alliance grew to new heights over the next few years. Then, in 47 ABY, Toven became to suspect Vrool of being the Sith he was, and started spying on him. Then, six years later, Katare found one of Toven's devices, traced it back to him, and retaliated. Vrool initially lead in the fight until some friends of Gane's arrived and teamed up against Katare. Outnumbered, the Sith was defeated and imprisoned. He broke out of his cell the next day and, while running for freedom, fell from a balcony and plummeted to his death. Toven soon took control of the True Jedi Alliance and dissolved it, ending Vrool's rebellion against the Order.
