  • Origin Hugo Strange grew up in a rough part of Gotham called Hell's Crucible where he faced great grief and trauma. Losing his parents at a young age, and winding up at an orphanage. He desperately sought to move up in the world and traveled abroad learning skills in the areas of science, politics, and combat. Eventually crossing paths with the Society of Shadows. He'd eventually take residence in Gotham, planning to prove his worthiness to be Ra's' heir by destroying it. With the rise of Batman and the costumed criminal element, he was able to exploit the fears of the current crime organizations of both. He eventually took under his wing Waylon Jones. A fellow man hailing from Hell's Crucible who was afflicted with a skin condition that left him with a horrifying physical appearance akin to that of a crocodile who had taken up wrestling alligators for a job. After injuring a man who mocked his appearance he was arrested. This had grabbed Hugo's interest who would then decide to meet with him. Seeing his potential, Hugo took him under his wing. He helped refine his fighting and organization skills before releasing him as his agent on the streets. After his monster men were stopped and he wad defeated by Batman in a battle that seemed to end with his accidental death, Strange went into hiding. He kept what contacts he could and kept an eye on the city. He was alerted to the Society of Shadows' presence in the city after Killer Croc is physically maimed by Bane. He knew that they'd be after him as well, so he planned his counterattack. He did however have his men recover a comatose Croc in order to keep safe and revive him. Knowing that in spite of their bad parting of ways prior, he'd be yearning to get back at the man and group that had attacked him. Bane for a while feigned being merely a mercenary in service of the now mayor Rupert Thorne as he tried to put the city back under control. Once he got the resources he needed from him however, Bane betrayed him and put the people into a revolutionary frenzy against Gotham's elite. A mob stormed city hall and thus a battle ensued with his men fighting to hold them off as they tried to get Thorne out. Deadshot was among the men defending city hall but eventually decided to side with Bane instead. Thorne surrendered to him and they took him down to an armored van to be escorted to a holding cell. Deadshot went along in the van to make sure it made it to the intended destination. However, not too long after the van would be ambushed by a truck and a number of cars. Out from the back of the truck Croc and a number of gunmen would emerge. A battle broke out in the street where Croc would break Thorne out of the van and take him to the truck through which he was transported to a safe-house for the followers of Hugo Strange. He'd meet with Thorne face-to-face and explain everything that was going on with Bane and the Society of Shadows. Strange offered Thorne to pool their resources together so that they could stand a chance challenging them together to which Thorn reluctantly agreed.
