After her first role, in Kotaishi no hanayome, she became a featured actress for Shintōhō studio. Besides film, she was known for her work in television dramas and in the theater, especially at Tokyo's Meijiza. Among the recognition she received for her career were the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2002, and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in 2008. She died of lung cancer at the age of 76, on September 26, 2010.
