| abstract | - They are pensioners who have been best friends since childhood and are next-door neighbours in Osprey Heights a tower block in the fictional town of Craiglang in Glasgow. They are also widowers as Jack's wife Jean and Victor's wife Betty died around ten years before the start of the series. They are also fathers, Jack's daughter Fiona lives in Canada with her husband Tony and two sons Jack and Steven whilst Victor's son John lives in Johannesburg however whilst Fiona stays in touch with Jack, John doesn't stay in touch with Victor. When not at home, Jack and Victor are usually hanging out at their local pub The Clansman owned by Boabby (Scottish form of Bobby) (who would come up with a new nickname for Jack and Victor whenever they entered the pub but they would always come back with a comment that would put Boabby in his place) with their friends Winston, Tam and Eric and also go to a shop called Harrid's ran by Navid (who moved to Glasgow from India in the 1970s) and his wife Meena. Also there is the cleaner Isa, the town gossiper who also lives in Osprey Heights. Jack is played by Ford Kiernan and Victor is played by Greg Hemphill.
