The Dharma Initiative will be conducting eligibility assessments at Booth 3529 at Comic-Con, San Diego between July 24th - 27th.

The television advertisement and site stated that Octagon Global Recruiting would hold a recruiting session in San Diego from July 24-27, 2008, and fan speculation relating to Comic-Con being at the same time and location was later confirmed in a series of emails, with the group supposedly running aptitude tests as part of their recruitment drive.

Juni 2008 erhielten die registrierten Benutzer eine E-Mail mit dem Betreff "Recruitment Information" ("Rekrutierungsinformation"). Im CC ist eine Person namens Hans Van Eeghen eingetragen. Die Email infomiert die Bewerber darüber, dass die Rekrutierungsveranstaltung im Rahmen der Comic Con stattfindet und "aufregende Fähigkeitstest" umfasst. Das gesamte Rekrutierungsprogramm wird im Anschluss daran auch online verfügbar gemacht. Am 18. Juli 2008 erhielten die registrieten Benutzer eine weitere E-Mail mit dem Betreff "Important Announcement" ("Wichtige Ankündigung"), in der mitgeteilt wird, in welchem Stand die Tests stattfinden werden. Außerdem enthält die E-Mail ein Statement von Hans Van Eeghen bezüglich seiner Hoffnungen für die Veranstaltung. Des weiteren wird die Adresse www.dharmawantsyou.com bekannt gegeben, unter der ab dem 28. Juli die Tests verfügbar gemacht werden. Es wird auch auf eine Möglichkeit hingewiesen, eines von zehn vorzeitigen Treffen mit einem Rekrutierungsbeauftragten zu gewinnen. Im Quelltext der Mail befindet sich eine versteckte Nachricht von einem Nutzer namens "RuckusGuy", der die Veranstaltung auf der Comic-Con infiltrieren und auf Video festhalten will. Er weist außerdem darauf hin, dass ein Freund von ihm, der ein Mitarbeiter der Comic-Con ist, etwas vorbereitet, was er über Bluetooth verbreiten will.
