He had hired Catalina Perez to clean his apartment on Friday nights until late 1998 when Perez was shot and killed on her way back to his apartment to pick a notebook she had left there. "D. H. Reilly," standing for "Doghouse Reilly," may have been an alias used by criminal middle-man Leo Renfro. The name appears in a byline of a 1992 newspaper article concerning a drug bust in the San Fernando Valley. The alias "Doghouse Reilly" was formerly given by private investigator Philip Marlowe to Carmen Sternwood in Raymond Chandler's 1939 novel the Big Sleep.
