  • A net is a heavy thrown weapon, so a character can throw it to make ranged attacks, using Strength instead of Dexterity for ranged basic attacks. A net is also an off-hand weapon. A character can use a net to make attacks even while holding another one-handed weapon in the other hand, and can use the other one-handed weapon to make attacks even if it isn't an off-hand weapon. • Nets are made from a heavy cord or rope and are often used to deflect blows or to confuse or entangle an enemy. They can be used in hand-to-hand combat or thrown up to four yards. In close combat, they can be used either as shields (in which case they count exactly as shields) or to entangle an opponent. Only a single creature may be hit and creatures which are hit are entangled unless they make a successful I test. Entangled creatures count as prone targets for further hits and may not attack, although they may attempt a Dex test each round to disentangle themselves or a S test to burst their way out of the net. This class of weapon also includes heavy cloaks, which may be used in a similar way.
  • [Source] Nets were any type of meshed or overlapping grid used to ensnare, trap and hold something or someone against its will. Nets were typically used for hunting and fishing in primative cultures and as a means of non-lethal crowd control in more advanced civilizations. As a weapon, the net later evolved into the electroshock net and the razor net. A net could also be shot out of a net gun. An Ewok net trap was used during the Battle of Endor.

  • Nets are useful tools for fishing. They function like a trap for fishing; one simply needs to set a net with the fishing skill menu and leave it for a few days, then come back to check it. Fish are usually caught after 2 days of leaving the net out. However, leaving it for slightly longer than 2 days causes the fish inside to rot, forcing the player to reset the trap. Nets can catch many low-quality fish such as roaches or perches, with one or two larger fish like salmon or trout. Net set on the shore catch smaller fishes of larger quantity, but set on water catch more bigger fishes of lower quantity. Mininum set time is about one day, with approriate rituals, water condition, and skill.

  • The Net is a level of Cyber Space inhabiting all computers. It consists greatly of complex systems and pathways connecting them. The Net is a very orderly place relying on this order to maintain itself. There are millions of systems on the Net, not all have a direct connection with the Net. When they are directly connected they are referred to as 'online'. The only way to get into an offline system without opening it to the Net is by a portal. The Net is inhabited by several types of people: Sprites, Binomes, Viruses, Nulls, Code Masters, virals, and Spectrals. The Web is considered one of the greatest threats to the Net's existence. The creatures there will destroy anything they find that does not come from the Web. The only way to get from the Net to the Web is by a portal, there are no other methods of direct access between the two dimensions. Inhabitants of the Net that are somehow stranded in the Web quickly begin to degrade. Web Creatures have difficulty remaining stable while in the Net and must feed on the energy of native inhabitants of the Net while they are there. Viruses are programs on the Net that try to destroy, corrupt, or control systems and people on the Net. They are feared and hated by almost every other program on the Net. Aside from the Web they are considered one of the greatest threats to the orderly functioning of the Net, particularly chaos viruses like Hexadecimal. If a system on the Net is destroyed it will leave behind a massive tear and a great deal of debris. The Edge of Beyond is a destroyed system that was possibly destroyed by the Web. The largest and most powerful system on the Net is the Super Computer. The Guardian collective lives in the Super Computer and polices the entire Net from there. They fight off any threat that would try to harm systems or people. If a Web Creature is found in a small system like mainframe, they will sacrifice the system to keep it from opening a portal and allowing the Web to invade the Net. The Super Virus Daemon infected the Super Computer, and used it in order to infect the pathways and later the entire Net. The efforts of one system, Mainframe, kept Daemon from infecting all of it, but she did end up controlling 92% of the entire Net. The Virus Hexadecimal took Mainframe's cure for Daemon's infection and sacrificed herself in order to carry the cure and save the entire Net. During the Net War, Turbo once commentated on the Net's apparent size. It had grown exponentially and was becoming nearly impossible for the Guardian Collective to police. Here are some systems on the Net: Mainframe, The Super Computer, Damaged System, Satellite System, Mainframe's Twin City, Spectral System, Desert Port System, and the Edge of Beyond.
  • The back of the goal frame is covered in a net to catch pucks shot into the goal. The goal posts and crossbar are painted red. The inside part of the goal frame is padded to keep pucks that enter the net from rebounding out. The goal frame is moored to the ice by flexible pegs; these keep the goal in its place in normal time, but allow it to move freely in case a player crashes into it. In many multipurpose rinks however, it is rather a metal pin protruding about a quarter of an inch that serves this purpose, as the pegs require bigger holes drilled into the ice, holes an ice resurfacer can't repair; this would leave this part of the ice dangerous when the goals are removed in order to allow other activities like free or artistic skating.

When trading for nets, be sure to carry extra trade goods as nets are vastly more valuable than fishing rods. Player will also start with 2 nets if he chooses the starting story of "I want to be a fisherman." This makes it extremely useful, since nets are usually the only thing you will need to get an abundance of food at the start.

The translation project originally started as an attempt to provide a digital version of a modern English translation over the Internet and on CD-ROM without cost for the user. Many of those involved in the project's initial discussions eventually became part of the translation team. The translation itself claims to be non-sectarian and evangelical. The translation is most notable for an immense number of lengthy footnotes (which often explain its textual translation decision), its open translation process, its availability on the Internet (both during its beta process and in its final form), and its open copyright permitting free downloads and use for ministry purposes. The First Edition, made available in November 2005 on the tenth anniversary of the inception of the project, may be downloaded free of charge and is also available in printed editions. The First Edition comprises the Protestant canon. The Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books are undergoing translation, and will be used in some future editions.

  • The Riebl VME bus ethernet board works great with NetBSD 5.1, with or without a battery installed. The battery just stores the hardware MAC address. The default MAC address will work fine unless another Riebl card exists on the same network and similarly uses the default MAC address. You'll want to set the Riebl jumpers as described in the NetBSD Atari FAQ. In my case, I needed to purchase some extra jumpers at an electronics store. Then in order to get the card working I needed to pull all the original jumpers and re-seat them. After doing this my Riebl card started working properly and continues to work problem free. You'll need an AUI transceiver to use the Riebl card on a 10baseT network. I use a Faralon Etherwave AUI transceiver. You should be able to find one of these fairly cheaply on eBay or elsewhere. You'll want to leave the SQE switch on the transceiver set to the ON position. To set the MAC address, get the ANS (Atari Network Services) Software for the Riebl Ethernet card. Extract disk 1 to a 1.44MB floppy and boot into the BIOS version of TOS. (To do this, turn on the TT030 and as soon as the power light goes on, hold down the "Alternate" key. Once the memory tests pass and the hard drive countdown starts, release Alternate and press it a couple of times, then hold it down again. With Alternate held down, press Esc and wait a few seconds. You should see TOS appear.) You'll find an app called rcpcheck.tos on the root of the ANS floppy. Run it and you'll be prompted for the last two hex digits of the MAC address to set. The battery on the Riebl card obviously needs to be good for this to work. The main benefit you'll get out of all this is that you won't get a message about a missing battery on the Reibl card when booting NetBSD. Other than that, following this procedure isn't necessary to use a Riebl card with NetBSD. If you can't get your hands on a Riebl card, try researching the BVME410 ethernet card, which appears to be more readily available. There appear to be some of these cards for sale here but it's unclear which one would be the best bet.
