abstract
  • Originally a human, many centuries ago, Neclord found his way to the Blue Moon Village, where he was transformed into a vampire by Sierra Mikain. Neclord was a popular member of the community due to his talent and friendly nature. He was the favorite of Sierra, but secretly, he was scheming to take the Moon Rune, one of the 27 True Runes, for himself. He succeeded in obtaining the rune during a village festival, stealing the rune from an altar in the centre of the village. This action had forced all the members of the village to make a choice: sustain themselves on human blood or perish. Eventually, with his lust for power still unquenched, he joined forces with Windy and Yuber and decimated places such as the Village of the Hidden Rune in their hunt for True Runes. In SY 449, Neclord attacked the village of North Window, located in the then-City-States of Jowston, on a whim. Every villager who was in the vicinity at the time was murdered and their bodies reanimated as zombies. Viktor, who had just returned from a trip to South Window, attempted to exact revenge on Neclord for his atrocities. The young Viktor was easily defeated, however, and only a Sacrificial Jizo he held kept him from death. This entire incident never registered as an important moment for Neclord, and it was soon lost to his memory. Six years later, in SY 455, Windy, now an important influence in the Scarlet Moon Empire, had Neclord appointed as the governor of the Lorimar region. Neclord quickly established his own system of governance over the region, first by destroying Lorimar Fortress along with its soldiers, who he reanimated as zombies. He then built a large gothic castle in the southern reaches of Lorimar to use as his base of operations. As governor, Neclord demanded that the people of the Warrior's Village send him one young woman every year to serve as his bride. The village was unable to stop Neclord from choosing Tengaar, the daughter of village chief Zorak, as his bride. Fortunately, a rescue attempt was mounted by Tir McDohl, Hix, and Viktor among others, sieging Neclord's Castle. With the aid of the Star Dragon Sword, Neclord's magical shield, which he used to avoid injury, was nullified, and the vampire was defeated atop his castle. The End of a Nightmare It seemed as if Neclord was defeated for good. However, Neclord returned during the early stages of the Dunan Unification War, in North Window, apparently gaining an interest in the village as well as Viktor following his defeat some three years prior. He began abducting young women who strayed close to the husk of the village. However, when faced with the Star Dragon Sword as well as the vampire hunter, Kahn Marley, Neclord fled the village without a fight, leaving a large monster, known as Abomination, to keep the party busy. It was during this incident that it was revealed that Neclord had survived his defeat in Lorimar thanks to his 'Doppelganger Secret', which allowed a duplicate of Neclord to die in his place; this was just one in a series of the many tricks he had learned over the centuries. Later on during the war, Neclord re-emerged in Tinto City, with the creation of a zombie kingdom in mind as his goal. Early attacks destroyed Sai, the fortress that served as the base of operations for the three Lampdragon Bandits. Neclord also used this opportunity to kidnap Lo Wen, one of the three leaders of the group. His zombie army proved difficult to defeat and soon, Tinto City itself was occupied, which allowed Neclord to abduct Lilly Pendragon, the daughter of the region's mayor, Gustav Pendragon. However, a small group managed to infiltrate Tinto City, including Riou, leader of the Dunan Army, as well as Viktor, Kahn Marley, and Sierra Mikain, who was on a quest to regain the Moon Rune. When confronted in a church in Tinto, Neclord's spirit was sealed with a technique learned by Kahn Marley. Neclord's attempts to blow away the sacred field with the Moon Rune were halted by Sierra Mikain, who still held command over its power. Trapped, Neclord agreed to return the rune in exchange for his life. Once Sierra had regained the Moon Rune, however, the group simply attacked Neclord and destroyed him permanently.
