| abstract | - The title and role of Takikage was created by Hasuga Setsurō, the matriarch of the Setsurō Clan, following the aftermath of the Fourth Shinobi World War. Hasuga assumed the role of Takikage herself, but when a new one is to be selected, the current Takikage will choose their own successor before their retirement. This choice will then be put up for consideration to the people of Takigakure. However, if the Takikage dies or is otherwise incapacitated before being able to select a successor, the Waterfall Daimyō will appoint a Takikage candidate upon the recommendation of the Taki Council and the Waterfall Daimyō council. Afterwards, the candidate will need to be approved by the Jōnin shinobi of the village to become officially Takikage. After being approved by everyone or chosen by the previous Takikage, they move into the Takikage Residence and reside there as long as they are Takikage. If the former Takikage is still alive, they will generally remain in the building albeit in a more secluded part to ensure the privacy of both parties. In addition, the Takikage have an additional office which is located in the administrative section of the Takigakure Academy; this is the location that missions are handed down to perspective shinobi.
