Joulukuusihattu on huomattavasti harvinaisempi kuin kalanaamio. Hatun kalleus johtuu siitä, ettei niitä ole paljoa. Pelaajilla oli aikaa kerätä kaikki viisi lahjaa alle kaksi viikkoa, ja lahjojen hankintaneuvot olivat hyvin vähäisiä. Toisin kuin kalanaamio, joka oli paljon helpompi saada, ja jonka saaminen oli mahdollista koko kesän. Edes Jagex ei ilmoittanut ajoissa, miten lahjoja saadaan. Lahjat yhdistettiin toisiinsa jolloin tuloksena oli joulukuusihattu.
