  • The AN/PRC-101 Radio Pack is a powerful radio for use at squad level. It is both reasonably priced, reliable, rugged and easy to use, meaning it is a common sight. Assigned at platoon level, the AN/PRC-101 Radio provides inter communication at company level, communicating with fireteams, squads, other platoons and company command. From Company Command the battlefield communication is taken over by the AN/PSC-102 Communication Pack in infantry units or by command vehicles. It provides battlefield command and communication, directing communications from Marines to officers and support units and helping with battlefield identification and targeting. It provides encryption and frequency hopping systems as well, to support battlefield communication security. While the pack is usually connected to an operator's helmet, it can be rerouted to a detachable radio on the back. The radio also transmits data signals and Morse Code, with the results being decoded in the radio pack and directed through the Marine's HUD. The M101 is a small pack, with it quite capable of being worn along with a rucksack, albeit small and is incredibly rugged, with it being resistant to most assault rifle ammo and plasma fire.
