After the Battle of Kanna, retired SPARTAN-II CJ Patterson used his ties to the military to request that the UNSC Red Tide, a Heimdall-class ship of the line, was bequeathed to the company his grandson served in to serve as their transport. Though several superiors claimed the gift violated UNSC Protocol, supports made a rebuttal, claiming the Spartan program violated more. Ultimately, the request was approved; Dingo Company, part of which was Blackheart Platoon, was reassigned to the Red Tide as its new garrison, and Carson, a navigator Jeremy had served with, was selected as the primary Bridge Commander.
