Its main base is in the Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem. It was founded in 1970 by Rabbi Dovid Refson as an institution for young college-age female Baal teshuvas ("returnees" [to Orthodox Judaism]) but it has broadened its mandate and presently offers high-quality Jewish studies programs relevant to modern day Jewish life based on Jewish law. Students at its branches may have prior educational backgrounds in Judaism ranging from the most fundamental to the highly advanced.
