See also Who killed Dumbledore? In the final book after snape is killed by voldermort, snape gives harry his memories to see. When he puts them in the bowl he see's that it was Dumblodor who ASKS snape to be the one to kill him when it is time. He is already dying at the start of the half-blood prince. Snape kills him because Dracko Malfoy was supposed to. He agreed to help Drako AND agreed to help Dumblodor. Dumblodor already knew that Dracko was going to attempt to kill him.
