Mit seinem 155 mm Massenbeschleuniger und der koaxial befestigten MG, bietet der Mako sowohl effektive Feuerunterstützung für Bodentruppen, als auch hohe Mobilität. Da die Marines der Allianz auf allen Planeten kampfbereit sein müssen, ist der Mako atmosphärisch versiegelbar und mit Mikro-Triebwerken für den Einsatz auf Planeten mit geringer Schwerkraft ausgestattet. Der Mako wird von einer isolierten Stickstoff-Sauerstoff-Brennzelle und einem kleinen Element-Zero-Kern angetrieben. Dieser Kern kann zwar nicht die gesamte Masse des Fahrzeugs aufheben,ermöglicht aber sichere Landeoperationen. Im Zusammenspiel mit den Triebwerken ermöglicht derEinsatz des Kerns zudem, dass sich der Mako selbstständig aus schwierigem Gelände befreien kann.
